Why I Do What I Do
I am a Truckee based freelance writer and content marketer. I started this business last Spring after I resigned from a teaching career that spanned 10 years. I really loved the challenge of teaching kids, and I loved the classroom. What made me leave teaching was everything else that comes with the profession - low pay, many, many hours, and the other “politics” of being an educator. I decided it was time to shift into something that would give me more time to spend with my daughter while also nurturing the creative life I love.
I love to write. I also love to travel and I am an amateur photographer. I did spend some years working as a professional photographer in San Diego, CA, but that is a story for another day. I also love being in control of my own life. I value freedom and balance. Part of starting a writing business had to do with the desire to give back to others. I feel I can do this through writing.
Whether it’s sharing my experiences, or taking a load off of someone’s work day, writing gives me the opportunity to do something I love while giving something in return. I write for fun, but I also write for businesses. I manage my clients’ blogs, website content, and email marketing campaigns. I am also dipping my toes in social media management, which is really exciting.
You can catch me working at the coffee shop, most likely. Right now, I am a bit of a work-a-holic, but when I do peel myself away from my computer, you’ll find me hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, paddle-boarding, and camping. And, of course, enjoying a glass of wine here and there with my amazing Truckee friends.
